Since the 1980s

From a farmer's field to your family's kitchen

Fresco is the farmers' arm of Mythos Group. Behind it is a family that has worked the land near Visakhapatnam since the 1980s, lost a great deal along the way, and built these stores so that no farmer in our circle ever has to sell at someone else's price again.

Our journey

Four decades of harvests, a few years we would rather not repeat, and the store they led to.

  1. 1980s

    The soil we came from

Our family farmed small plots in the villages around Visakhapatnam with native seeds saved in cloth bags, cattle for manure and rain for irrigation. Our father left for the market at three in the morning with the harvest stacked on a bullock cart. He came home with whatever price the agent decided that day. Some evenings he did not speak at all.

We grew the food. Somebody else grew rich on it.
  2. Mid 1990s

The year the ponds turned white

White spot disease swept through the prawn ponds of coastal Andhra. Families around us who had mortgaged land for a single crop watched it die in a week. We learned young that one season can undo ten, and that a farmer with no other income has no way to wait out a bad year.

  3. 1999

    Our first direct customers

Andhra Pradesh opened the Rythu Bazaars and we carried our own vegetables to the city and sold them ourselves. For the first time the person who ate our food looked us in the eye and paid us for it. That feeling is the reason this company exists.

  4. 2012

    Mythos begins

We started Mythos with infrastructure and real estate work, not because we had stopped being farmers but because farming alone could not fund the next harvest. For a few years we built for other people so that one day we could build for ourselves.

We left the fields for a while to earn what the fields never gave us.
  5. 2014

    Hudhud

On 12 October, Cyclone Hudhud crossed the coast at Visakhapatnam. Standing crops were flattened, trees we had grown up under were gone and the city we sold to had no roof over it. We started again from wet soil, and we learned what our own people can carry when there is nothing left to carry.

  6. 2020

    Back to water and soil

We put our savings back where we came from: Mythos Aquatic Industries for fish and prawn ponds, and Overseas Greens for farming. It was the year the country shut down. Trucks stood still, hotels closed, and a harvest we could not move rotted where it lay. We gave away vegetables to families who had nothing that month, and understood something we should have seen earlier: the city was hungry while our fields were full, and the road between us was the only thing broken.

  7. 2021 to 2023

Building the chain, one link at a time

Vennela Seafoods gave us our own processing. Kovera and Syavi took our produce into food and retail. We supplied kitchens and stores across the city and grew fast, but our money sat in other people's ledgers for sixty and ninety days, and the farmer still got the lowest number in the chain.

  8. 2024 to 2025

The gap we could no longer ignore

We priced our own harvest in a city store and found a family paying two to three times what we were paid at the farm gate, for produce two days older than ours. Nobody in the middle was a villain. The chain itself was the problem, and we were still feeding it.

  9. 2026

    Fresco, Group of Farmers

Fourteen years after Mythos began, we opened our own store instead. Our fields, our ponds and the farms of families we have known for decades, sold direct to your home at the farm-gate price, with the day's rate printed where everyone can see it. The middle of the chain is gone. What it used to take is split between the farmer and you.

Our name is on the crate, and on the price.

Our family

What we stand for

  • Native seeds

We keep the varieties our grandparents grew because they taste better and suit our soil.

  • No middlemen

We grow it, pick it and bring it to you. What you save is what an agent would have taken.

  • Soil first

Rotation, cattle manure and rest seasons keep our fields alive for the next generation.

  • Fair to farmers

Partner families are paid on time and at a fair rate, every harvest.
